Residents of Otorho community in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State have expressed optimism over the ongoing construction of internal roads and reinforced concrete drainage channels, describing the project as a major step towards improving transportation and tackling the persistent flooding that has affected the area for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction activities are currently underway, with workers engaged in drainage excavation, reinforcement works, concrete casting and culvert construction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earth-moving equipment was seen operating at different sections of the project site while engineers supervised ongoing work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is expected to improve road accessibility, reduce erosion and provide an effective stormwater drainage system capable of protecting the road from water damage during the rainy season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the project site, Engr. Blessing Odjegba, Project Engineer, described the drainage system as the foundation of the entire project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The drainage system is one of the most critical components of the project because it is designed to safely channel stormwater away from the roadway, thereby protecting the pavement structure from erosion and premature failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“According to him, strict engineering standards are being observed throughout the construction process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Every stage of the work is being executed according to the approved design and engineering specifications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our priority is to deliver quality infrastructure that will stand the test of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Engr. Odjegba further stated that the completed project would significantly improve movement within Otorho community while reducing the impact of flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When completed, this project will significantly improve accessibility, ease transportation within Otorho community and reduce the flooding challenges residents have experienced over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The ongoing project has generated positive reactions among residents, many of whom described it as a long-awaited intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Evelyn Oghene, a resident of Otorho community, expressed optimism over the progress of the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have suffered from poor roads and flooding for many years. We are happy that work is finally going on and we hope it is completed as scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Commercial motorcycle operator, Mr. Joseph Akpoveta, also welcomed the development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A good road means safer movement, lower transport costs and fewer repairs for our motorcycles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project will benefit everyone in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Otorho Internal Road project forms part of the Delta State Government’s ongoing investment in road infrastructure aimed at improving accessibility, enhancing economic activities and reducing the effects of flooding across communities in Ethiope East Local Government Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents appealed to the contractor and supervising authorities to ensure that the project is completed on schedule and in accordance with approved engineering standards so that the community can fully benefit from the development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
