Delta state, Nigeria \u2013 Nigeria\u2019s economy continues to face significant challenges as rising inflation, unemployment, and the high cost of living place increasing pressure on households and businesses across the country. Economic analysts say while recent government reforms are aimed at strengthening the economy, many citizens are yet to experience the benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Across major cities and rural communities, Nigerians are struggling to cope with rising prices of food, transportation, housing, healthcare, and other essential goods and services. The situation has affected consumer spending, business activities, and the overall standard of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Market surveys conducted in Abraka main market, small market at campus 2,provision stores at N.U.T Abraka ,commercial centers reveal that the prices of basic commodities have increased considerably over the past year. Many families now spend a larger portion of their income on necessities, leaving little room for savings or investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Iyke supermarket Abraka , several shoppers expressed concern over the continuous increase in food prices. According to them, products that were once affordable have become difficult for average households to purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A primary school teacher in Abraka who visited the market to buy groceries said the economic situation has forced many families to adjust their spending habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery week, prices increase. What I used to buy with a certain amount of money now costs almost twice as much. Many people are finding it difficult to cope,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Economists attribute the rise in prices to several factors, including inflation, transportation costs, exchange rate fluctuations, and supply chain challenges. They warn that persistent inflation could continue to reduce purchasing power and affect economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unemployment situation also remains a major concern. Although various government programs have been introduced to support job creation, many young Nigerians continue to struggle to find stable employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Labour experts argue that unemployment affects both economic productivity and social stability. They emphasize the need for greater investment in sectors capable of creating large numbers of jobs, including agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A painter in Abraka explained that\u2019s many business owners need financial support to purchase equipment and expand production<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have customers and opportunities for growth, but lack of funding prevents many of us from expanding our businesses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The banking sector continues to play an important role in the economy by providing financial services and supporting business activities. Commercial banks have expanded digital banking platforms, making transactions more convenient for customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mobile banking, electronic payments, and online financial services have become increasingly popular among Nigerians. Financial experts say digital innovation has improved financial inclusion and expanded access to banking services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the agricultural sector remains critical to the country\u2019s economic development. Agriculture employs millions of Nigerians and contributes significantly to food production and national income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
