{"id":1298,"date":"2026-07-14T00:33:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T23:33:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1298"},"modified":"2026-07-14T00:33:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T23:33:18","slug":"cross-river-government-train-over-700-farmers-in-coffee-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1298","title":{"rendered":"Cross River Government Train Over 700 Farmers In Coffee Production"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By<\/strong> <strong>Chinaza<\/strong> <strong>Obasi<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Cross River State Government has trained more than 700 farmers in modern coffee production techniques as part of efforts to boost agriculture and create jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The training, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, was held across the state and targeted farmers, youths, and agricultural extension officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation Development, Mr. Johnson Ebokpo, said the programme is part of the state\u2019s plan to diversify the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Coffee Revolution in Cross River State is driven by the passion and visionary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, to create sustainable livelihoods for our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ebokpo announced that subsidized coffee seedlings will be distributed to farmers starting in July, after weather conditions improve for planting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Prof. John Shiyam, urged farmers to prepare their land in advance to take advantage of the rains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stakeholders welcomed the initiative, saying it will encourage young people to embrace agriculture as a business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Farmers appealed to the government to ensure timely distribution of seedlings and to sustain support programmes that can improve harvests and income.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Chinaza Obasi The Cross River State Government has trained more than 700 farmers in modern coffee production techniques as part of efforts to boost agriculture and create jobs.
