Months after a\u00a0landmark interview outlined a bold new direction for Delta State University (DELSU), anticipation continues to build across campus regarding Vice-Chancellor Prof. Samuel O. Asagba\u2019s proposed state-of-the-art sports arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The revelation was made during an interactive interview session with notable DELSU alumnus and popular media personality, MC Busy Bee. During the broadcast, which focused on exploring avenues for alumni\u2014particularly those in the United Kingdom and the broader diaspora\u2014to collaborate with the university, the Vice-Chancellor outlined his administration\u2019s bold blueprint for infrastructural and talent development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dialogue between Prof. Asagba and MC Busy Bee began with a focus on strengthening the relationship between the institution and its former students. Responding to the media personality\u2019s inquiry on how alumni can collaborate with the school, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that universities worldwide thrive on alumni support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that top global institutions derive the bulk of their revenue from their alumni networks, adding that DELSU must actively tap into this vital venture. Pledging the management’s full backing, he assured the alumni of his total support for any collaborative roles they wish to undertake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When pressed by MC Busy Bee on specific projects the diaspora alumni could champion, Prof. Asagba revealed his vision for athletic development. Quoting the famous adage, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,” he pointed out the university’s urgent need for a standard sports facility. He explained that establishing a proper sports arena or stadium is a special project currently on his mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The university has produced doctors, lawyers, bankers, engineers, and even globally recognized MCs like AY,” the Vice-Chancellor stated during the interview with MC Busy Bee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“But what about sportsmen?”Prof. Asagba expressed strong optimism that with standard sports facilities in place, Abraka will inevitably produce top-tier athletes. He concluded that investing in sports development is not just about recreation, but a highly strategic avenue to further elevate the DELSU brand on a global scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Validating this executive vision from the grassroots level, the student body has thrown its full weight behind the Vice-Chancellor’s proposed infrastructural upgrade. Reacting to the administration’s master plan, the Student Union Government (SUG) Director of Sports\u2014representing the direct beneficiaries of this policy\u2014emphasized how the proposed arena will revolutionize campus athletics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DELSU SUG Director of Sports, Comr. Sunday Collins Efe , notes that the proposed ultra-modern stadium will elevate student athletics and boost the university’s national ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s something all DELSUites have been looking for. There are other institutions not as big as DELSU that have mini-stadiums, but DELSU doesn’t. It’s a big win for the student community and the school at large,” the SUG Sports Director stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He further highlighted how the Vice-Chancellor’s initiative will drastically expand the university’s athletic portfolio, bridging existing infrastructural gaps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Some sports aren’t played in DELSU. For instance, we don’t have a standard swimming pool here, but with this initiative, we’ll have a lot of sporting activities, including indoor sports like karate. We already have badminton, table tennis, and others. With this ultra-modern stadium, we’ll have a lot to benefit, and it will greatly increase our profile and… put DELSU on the map of ranking universities”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
