Weekend events at lounges, recreational centres, and student hostels regularly attract large crowds, featuring performances by emerging musicians, dancers, DJs, comedians, and content creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking with our correspondent, <strong>Okechukwu Oghale Favour<\/strong>, a 100-level Mass Communication student of Delta State University, described entertainment as an important aspect of campus life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Entertainment in Abraka brings students together and creates opportunities for young talents to showcase their abilities. It also helps students relieve academic stress and interact with people from different backgrounds. I believe the entertainment industry here is growing and has the potential to become even bigger with more support,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, <strong>Olise Esther Ashinedum<\/strong>, a 300-level Pharmacology student at Delta State University, expressed satisfaction with the entertainment atmosphere in the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;There are always interesting events taking place around campus, especially during weekends. These programmes give students a chance to relax after lectures while supporting upcoming entertainers. I hope more organisations will sponsor entertainment events because they positively impact student life,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents also observed that entertainment activities have contributed to the local economy by increasing patronage for food vendors, photographers, fashion designers, transport operators, and other small businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the progress, some students identified inadequate sponsorship, irregular power supply, and limited event facilities as major challenges affecting the growth of the entertainment industry in Abraka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nevertheless, stakeholders believe that with sustained investment and increased support from public and private organisations, Abraka will continue to strengthen its reputation as one of Delta State&#8217;s leading centres for youth entertainment, creativity, and cultural expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyemulu Ashinedu ABRAKA, Delta State \u2013 Entertainment activities in Abraka are experiencing steady growth as students of Delta State University (DELSU) continue to embrace music, comedy, cultural events, and talent showcases, making the university community one of the state&#8217;s most vibrant social hubs.
