{"id":1415,"date":"2026-07-14T17:05:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T16:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1415"},"modified":"2026-07-14T17:05:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T16:05:18","slug":"delsu-unveils-plans-for-modern-multi-purpose-sports-complex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1415","title":{"rendered":"DELSU Unveils Plans For Modern Multi-Purpose Sports Complex"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Victoria Oweibo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has unveiled plans to construct a modern multi-purpose sports complex as part of its efforts to improve sporting facilities and encourage greater student participation in sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The announcement was made by the Vice-Chancellor, <strong>Prof. Samuel Asagba<\/strong>, during a meeting with members of the National Fundraising Committee of the DELSU Alumni Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Vice-Chancellor, the proposed sports complex will provide students and staff with a standard facility for sporting activities, competitions, training, and talent development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Asagba explained that the project will be funded through donations and fundraising efforts involving the DELSU Alumni Association, corporate organisations, and other well-meaning individuals committed to supporting the university&#8217;s growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reaffirmed the institution&#8217;s commitment to creating an environment that promotes academic excellence alongside sports and other extracurricular activities, noting that quality sporting infrastructure is essential to students&#8217; overall development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed facility is expected to host inter-faculty competitions, university games, and other sporting events while providing student-athletes with opportunities to develop their talents and represent the university at national and international competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the sports complex, the Vice-Chancellor disclosed plans to expand student accommodation through the construction of additional hostel blocks.
