{"id":1436,"date":"2026-07-14T17:25:32","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T16:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1436"},"modified":"2026-07-14T17:25:34","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T16:25:34","slug":"community-leaders-advocate-development-in-abraka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1436","title":{"rendered":"Community Leaders Advocate Development in Abraka"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Emarubesie Favour<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Community leaders and political stakeholders in Abraka have called on elected officials to prioritise infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and improved public services as discussions on governance continue to shape political activities in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The call was made during a recent stakeholders&#8217; meeting held in Abraka, where the <strong>Ovie of Umiaghwa-Abraka Kingdom, HRM Luck Ochuko Ararile<\/strong>, and other political stakeholders urged public office holders to focus on projects that would improve the living conditions of residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants identified several pressing challenges facing the community, including poor road infrastructure, inadequate electricity supply, youth unemployment, and security concerns within the university community and neighbouring villages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stakeholders also emphasised the need for transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources, noting that good governance remains essential to sustainable community development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students of <strong>Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka<\/strong>, participated in the discussions, with student representatives encouraging young people to take a more active role in the democratic process. They stressed that greater youth participation in politics would promote better representation and contribute to the development of both the university community and the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Political stakeholders in the area have also intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections, engaging residents on governance issues and community development priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Representatives of community security groups and traditional institutions appealed to politicians, supporters, and residents to maintain peace before, during, and after political activities.
