Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, has launched an Artificial Intelligence Creative Programme aimed at equipping students with digital skills to thrive in Nigeria\u2019s evolving economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is backed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Asagba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, featured Mr. Adebayo Ajayi, founder of Webbitt Technology, and the Students\u2019 Union Government President, Comrade Kingsley O. Dumuje. Organizers said the event was designed to move students beyond being consumers of technology to becoming creators of solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, officials noted that DELSU, ranked the 11th best university in Nigeria in the 2026 rating, is expanding its focus beyond academics to long-term youth empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe university is not just about teaching and issuing certificates,\u201d a university official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are preparing a generation that will actively participate in creating innovation and solving societal problems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The summit also created awareness on the role of AI in content creation, entrepreneurship, and national development. Active participants received awards and rewards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omomaife-Better Emmanuella, a student of the Medical Laboratory Science Department and second-place winner in the DELSU AI contest, said the programme opened her to new creative possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt opened my eyes to a creative side I have never explored. I have always wanted to be a content creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This helped me answer the \u2018why\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okiotororo Joy Aghogho, a 200-level student and winner of the event, said the summit helped her articulate the realities of student life and the opportunities in digital skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe event helped me explain to the world what being a student, politician, and content creator is really like,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She commended the Vice-Chancellor for approving the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThank you so much to the VC of Delta State University, Abraka, for approving this programme. The creative summit was like an enlightenment for people with little or no knowledge about AI and content creation. God bless him,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants said the programme motivated them to use digital skills not only for personal income but also to contribute to societal development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event concluded with a call for greater technological awareness among students and plans to introduce more AI-focused trainings and workshops on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
