{"id":1640,"date":"2026-07-15T14:30:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T13:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1640"},"modified":"2026-07-15T14:30:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T13:30:09","slug":"abraka-residents-express-concern-over-attacks-on-churches-across-nigeria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1640","title":{"rendered":"Abraka Residents Express Concern Over Attacks on Churches Across Nigeria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Victory Omotor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some residents of Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State have expressed concern over increasing reports of attacks on churches and Christian worshippers in parts of Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In separate interviews, the residents called for stronger security measures and improved collaboration among security agencies to address the growing security challenges and protect places of worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the interviewees, Ubaka Success, said both the government and citizens have important roles to play in tackling insecurity. She argued that criminals have become bold enough to operate openly on social media, yet little action appears to have been taken against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She referred to a TikTok livestream allegedly conducted by bandits during which money was reportedly distributed to some Nigerians who participated. She urged the government to respond more swiftly and decisively to criminal activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another interviewee, Aloma Godfrey, said the government should strengthen security and provide the police with the necessary support to carry out their duties effectively. He added that influential individuals should also assist security agencies in combating crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, Nzewi Chidinma said the government has not done enough to protect Nigerians. According to her, increasing the number of security personnel and intensifying efforts to reduce insecurity across the country would help make places of worship safer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The interviewees urged the government, security agencies, and community leaders to work together to safeguard churches and ensure that Christians can worship freely without fear of attacks.
