{"id":1666,"date":"2026-07-15T15:12:27","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T14:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1666"},"modified":"2026-07-15T15:12:28","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T14:12:28","slug":"high-court-hears-divorce-petition-husband-seeks-dissolution-of-marriage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1666","title":{"rendered":"High Court Hears Divorce Petition, Husband Seeks Dissolution of Marriage"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Miracle Iyara<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A husband, Mr Adebisi Michael Abiodun, has filed an amended divorce petition before the High Court of Justice, Abraka Judicial Division, Delta State, seeking the dissolution of his marriage to Mrs Glory Adebisi Godwin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The petition, filed on November 26, 2025, seeks the dissolution of the marriage celebrated on November 19, 2022. The petitioner also requested joint access and custody of their child, as well as an order for child maintenance to cover the child&#8217;s educational and feeding expenses in accordance with his financial capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alternatively, Mr Adebisi asked the court to grant a judicial separation if the marriage could not be dissolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the respondent, Mrs Adebisi, filed a cross-petition on November 27, 2025, denying the allegations contained in the petition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The specific reasons for Mr Adebisi&#8217;s decision to seek divorce were not disclosed in the court proceedings. However, the case indicated that both parties had reached a point where reconciliation was no longer possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court issued a Decree Nisi on March 3, 2026, after which the parties still did not reconcile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three months later, the matter was brought before Hon.
