{"id":1690,"date":"2026-07-15T15:47:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T14:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1690"},"modified":"2026-07-15T15:47:20","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T14:47:20","slug":"delta-police-arrest-motorcyclist-for-kidnapping-3-year-old-girl-entrusted-for-school-runs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1690","title":{"rendered":"Delta Police Arrest Motorcyclist for Kidnapping 3-Year-Old Girl Entrusted for School Runs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Erhiakporeh Oghenero Honour<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Delta State Police Command has arrested a commercial motorcyclist, Kelvin Ogaga, for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old girl who was entrusted to his care for daily transportation to and from school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the police, the suspect allegedly betrayed the family\u2019s trust by abducting the child and demanding a ransom of \u20a6500,000 for her release. The family reportedly paid the ransom after negotiations, leading to the safe rescue of the child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The child\u2019s father reported the incident to the police on May 18, 2026. Following the report, operatives of the Command Anti-Vice Squad, acting on credible technical intelligence, raided the suspect\u2019s hideout and arrested him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Items recovered from the suspect included \u20a6127,000 believed to be part of the ransom money, other valuables allegedly purchased with proceeds of the crime, and the motorcycle reportedly used during the abduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement and video briefing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe was paid to always pick and drop the child to and from school, but he turned around and kidnapped the child and collected a ransom of \u20a6500,000,\u201d Edafe said. \u201cThe moment we got the complaint, the command embarked on intelligence-led investigation and arrested him. We recovered some of the ransom money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
