{"id":1721,"date":"2026-07-15T16:34:30","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T15:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1721"},"modified":"2026-07-15T16:34:31","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T15:34:31","slug":"academic-social-activities-gain-momentum-across-delsu-campuses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=1721","title":{"rendered":"Academic, Social Activities Gain Momentum Across DELSU Campuses"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Akpiri Benita<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Academic and social activities have continued to gain momentum at Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, as students across Campuses 1 and 2 participate actively in lectures, practical sessions, leadership engagements, sporting activities, entrepreneurship initiatives, and environmental sanitation exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The commencement of the second semester has brought renewed vibrancy to the university environment, with lecture halls recording increased student attendance as learners participate in classes, submit assignments, and prepare for continuous assessment tests. University authorities have also strengthened academic monitoring while encouraging lecturers and students to maintain punctuality and commitment to effective teaching and learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Students\u2019 Union Government (SUG) has intensified engagement with the university management through discussions focused on issues affecting students\u2019 welfare, including electricity supply, hostel water availability, transportation challenges, and campus security. The engagements are aimed at improving communication and fostering a better relationship between students and the university administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Campus 2, students have increased participation in academic activities such as laboratory practicals, field exercises, seminars, and departmental presentations. Lecturers have continued to promote interactive learning through group discussions, practical demonstrations, and collaborative academic activities designed to improve students\u2019 understanding of course content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond academics, sporting activities have remained a major part of campus life. Students from various faculties and departments have participated in football matches, volleyball competitions, and fitness programmes aimed at promoting teamwork, healthy living, and social interaction. Departmental associations and student organisations have also organised friendly competitions to strengthen unity among students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The university has equally intensified security efforts by increasing patrols around lecture halls, hostels, and major campus routes, particularly during evening hours. Students have been advised to remain cautious, protect their personal belongings, and report suspicious activities to security personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entrepreneurship activities have also continued to expand within the university community, with students displaying skills in areas such as fashion design, photography, baking, cosmetics, and digital services. Exhibitions organised by student groups have provided platforms for young entrepreneurs to showcase their talents, gain business experience, and generate income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Environmental sanitation exercises have also been carried out across both campuses, involving students, environmental clubs, and university staff. Participants cleaned hostels, lecture halls, roadsides, and recreational areas as part of efforts to maintain a cleaner and healthier learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the semester progresses, many students have increased their academic preparation by making greater use of the university library and reading centres.
