Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, continues to expand its academic and support infrastructure at Campus 3, with ongoing development projects aimed at enhancing teaching, research, administration, and student welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A university staff member, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, described Campus 3 as one of the institution’s rapidly developing campuses, housing key academic, administrative, and student support facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the campus is the Senate Building<\/strong>, which serves as the administrative headquarters of the university. The building accommodates the offices of the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, and other principal officers, while also hosting Senate meetings where major academic and administrative decisions are taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The source disclosed that an older Senate Building project, initiated several years ago, remains incomplete. According to the staff member, the project began during the period when former Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa<\/strong>, served as a senator but was not completed. The structure remains part of the university’s ongoing infrastructure development plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most prominent structures on Campus 3 is the six-storey academic building, which stands near the main entrance and serves as one of the campus’s major landmarks. The staff member noted that although significant progress has been made in developing the campus, some buildings are still under construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Campus 3 accommodates several faculties, including the Faculty of Science<\/strong>, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies<\/strong>, and the Faculty of Social Sciences<\/strong>. The university is also expanding academic opportunities through the development of new faculties and programmes, including Dentistry<\/strong>, Pharmacy<\/strong>, and Geography and Regional Planning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Science is equipped with laboratories used by students for practical training and research in disciplines such as Physics, Biology, Industrial Chemistry, and Science Laboratory Technology (SLT). These facilities provide students with hands-on experience that complements classroom instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campus also features large lecture theatres, including a 750-seat lecture hall<\/strong>, which is used for lectures, seminars, examinations, and other academic activities. In addition, Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres support the university’s transition to electronic examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To promote entrepreneurship and skills acquisition, the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CES)<\/strong> offers vocational training in areas such as tailoring and other practical skills. The programme is designed to equip students with entrepreneurial competencies that can enhance self-employment and career development after graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Campus 3 also houses research centres and administrative offices that support academic research and institutional development. Dedicated facilities are available for postgraduate studies, sandwich programmes, and other specialised academic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student welfare is further enhanced through recreational and support services available on the campus. These include a sports complex, shuttle bus services that facilitate movement within the university, and a medical centre annex that provides basic healthcare services to students and staff. More advanced medical services are available at the university’s main medical centre located on another campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial services are also easily accessible, with commercial banks such as Zenith Bank<\/strong> and Fidelity Bank<\/strong> operating within the campus environment to meet the banking needs of students and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security personnel are stationed across the campus to maintain law and order, while university regulations on discipline and appropriate dressing are enforced to promote a conducive learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The staff member also highlighted the presence of facilities dedicated to theatre, arts, and performance studies, reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting both academic and creative disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several construction projects are currently ongoing across Campus 3, demonstrating the university’s continued investment in infrastructure development. According to the source, these projects are expected to improve the overall learning environment and accommodate the institution’s growing student population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, Campus 3 continues to evolve as a modern academic hub, combining teaching, research, administration, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and student support services.
