Religious leaders in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, have urged young people to remain steadfast in their faith and uphold moral values as the community continues to grapple with rising insecurity, including cases of kidnapping that have unsettled residents and students of Delta State University (DELSU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appeal was made during an interdenominational prayer gathering held at Our Saviour’s Chapel, DELSU Site II<\/strong>, where clergy from within and outside the university community offered prayers for lasting peace and security in Abraka and its environs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Chapel Council, Rev. Dr. Friday Aghogho Robinson Ejobee<\/strong>, said the church has a responsibility to provide hope and spiritual guidance during difficult times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Faith may be tested by insecurity, but it remains our strongest anchor in times of danger,” he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He urged parents and guardians to instill sound moral and spiritual values in their children, stressing that faith-based teachings can help discourage youths from engaging in crime and other social vices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other clerics, including representatives of the Urhobo Christian Ministers Association International (UCMAI)<\/strong>, echoed the call for stronger collaboration among religious organisations, traditional rulers, community leaders and security agencies to address the growing security challenges confronting the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They emphasized that collective action and community vigilance are essential to restoring lasting peace and protecting lives and property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some worshippers who attended the programme said the gathering renewed their hope despite recent security concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A DELSU student, Peace, described the event as spiritually uplifting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I felt God’s peace and was reminded that He is always with us despite the challenges we are facing,” she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The prayer meeting attracted more than 750 worshippers<\/strong> and concluded with renewed calls for communal peace, youth mentorship and closer community engagement to discourage criminal activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants also urged government and security agencies to intensify efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes affecting Abraka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of press time, the Delta State Police Command<\/strong> had not issued an official response specifically addressing the concerns raised during the gathering, although security operations in the area remain ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
