The Delta State Police Command has arrested Asaba-based content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna<\/strong>, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba,”<\/strong> over allegations that he sexually and physically assaulted a 20-year-old woman who later died after allegedly ingesting a poisonous substance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement issued by the Command on July 15, 2026<\/strong>, the incident began on June 1, 2026<\/strong>, when the deceased, Favour Agbro<\/strong>, travelled from Warri to Asaba after the suspect allegedly promised to mentor her in digital content creation and teach her how to monetize online content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said preliminary investigations indicate that upon her arrival, Ogbonna allegedly lured the victim to a hotel, where she was physically assaulted and sexually violated despite reportedly informing him that she was a virgin and had no interest in any intimate relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement further alleged that the victim sustained injuries during the incident before returning to Warri, where she informed members of her family, including her twin sister, about her ordeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the police, the deceased later recorded a video in which she recounted the alleged assault and the emotional trauma she experienced following the incident. The video subsequently circulated on social media, attracting widespread public attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said the young woman later ingested a poisonous insecticide and was rushed to a medical facility, where she died despite efforts to save her life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following her death, the family submitted a petition to the Delta State Police Command, prompting the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi<\/strong>, to direct detectives attached to the Effurun Area Command<\/strong> to commence an immediate investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation led to the arrest of Ogbonna, who is currently in police custody and assisting detectives with their inquiries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commissioner of Police assured the victim’s family and members of the public that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, professionally and impartially, adding that all available evidence would be examined before appropriate legal action is taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police emphasized that the suspect remains under investigation and that the allegations against him have not yet been determined by a court of law<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe<\/strong>, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice through due process and urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information capable of prejudicing the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
