The Delta State University (DELSU) water factory has continued to sustain the production and supply of affordable and safe drinking water to students and staff, despite the persistent challenge of irregular electricity supply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This reaffirms its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted access to quality drinking water on campus.The water factory, which is situated at Campus 1 of Delta State University, Abraka, supplies sachet and bottled water to students, staff, and other members of the university community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The factory serves as one of the institution\u2019s facilities aimed at providing students and staff with access to clean drinking water at an affordable price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with the manager of the water factory, Mr. Emese Oghenerunor, he explained that the factory sources its water from an underground borehole drilled to a depth of about 230 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also added that the water undergoes a series of treatments before it is packaged for consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the factory operates in line with standards recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO), with emphasis placed on proper treatment and quality control throughout the production process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He assured consumers that the water is safe for drinking and meets the required standards.Despite maintaining these standards, the managing director identified irregular electricity supply as a major challenge that affects the factory\u2019s operation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frequent power outages sometimes disrupt production activities and increase operating costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He, however, noted that the factory remains committed to ensuring that students and staff continue to have access to clean drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his words, “The factory was established mainly for the purpose of consumption by the students and staff, especially the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why the factory keeps the price of its sachet water low to make it affordable for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

” According to him, keeping the price low is part of the university\u2019s effort to ensure that access to safe drinking water is not limited by students’ financial constraints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The affordability of the factory\u2019s water makes it a preferable choice for many students on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Becky, a 200-level student, noted that the water is affordable and easily accessible, making it one of the brands frequently purchased by students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, a final-year student from the Department of Pharmacy described the factory\u2019s water as affordable and readily available, adding that it has become his preferred choice since 100 level because of its quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The managing director called on members of the university community to continue patronising the DELSU water factory, assuring them of the management’s commitment to maintaining quality production despite the operational challenges posed by unstable electricity supply.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
