{"id":2001,"date":"2026-07-17T23:22:21","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T22:22:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2001"},"modified":"2026-07-18T07:26:55","modified_gmt":"2026-07-18T06:26:55","slug":"delsu-vc-reassures-students-over-water-situation-in-eco-hostel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2001","title":{"rendered":"DELSU VC Reassures Students On Improved Water Supply In Eco Hostel"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Charles Uwaifo<\/strong><br><br>The Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Prof. Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has assured students that the water problem in Eco Hostel is being addressed by the university management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asagba gave the assurance during the \u201cJourney to Odyssey\u201d programme organised by the DELSU Comrade Community, where he spoke about some of the projects his administration has carried out to improve students\u2019 welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For some time, students living in Eco Hostel had complained about the shortage of water in the hostel. Many of them said they found it difficult to get water for bathing, washing clothes, cooking and other daily activities. Some students also said they had to walk to nearby hostels to fetch water before going for lectures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor explained that the problem was caused by damaged water tanks and the old stanchion supporting them. According to him, the structure had deteriorated so badly that it had begun to affect the walls of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professor Asagba said the damaged tanks and stanchion have now been replaced. He added that the university also constructed a brand-new stanchion, which he described as the tallest on the campus, to ensure a steady supply of water to students living in Eco Hostel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Vice-Chancellor also noted that his administration has continued to respond to plumbing challenges across the university. He said efforts have also been made to improve electricity supply in some hostels, including the NDDC Hostel, adding that the university management remains committed to improving the welfare of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have been responding to plumbing problems, and we will continue to do so.
