The power outage reportedly affected boreholes and water pumping systems relied upon by most hostels in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking with this reporter, a student resident, <strong>Otojareri Fejiro Faith<\/strong>, described the situation as stressful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We have been suffering because there is no water. Most of the boreholes are not working due to the lack of electricity. Sometimes we wake up as early as 5 a.m. to look for water,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>READ ALSO:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2142\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2142\">Academic Activities Intensify Across DELSU Abraka Campuses 1 and 2<br><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another student, <strong>Oyiborume Precious<\/strong>, said the shortage had affected students&#8217; daily routines and academic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It is difficult to concentrate on our studies when you have to spend hours searching for water. Some students even miss classes because of the situation,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A house caretaker in the area, <strong>Blessing Etibo<\/strong>, explained that the absence of electricity had made it impossible to operate water pumping machines, adding that the rising cost of fuel for generators had made the situation even more difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents have appealed to electricity authorities and other relevant stakeholders to address the persistent power supply challenges and improve access to water in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>READ ALSO:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2139\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2139\">Epileptic Power Supply Plagues DELSU Campus 1 Printing Press, Student Interns Speak Out\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The water scarcity has raised concerns about sanitation and public health, as many students struggle to maintain proper hygiene.
