{"id":2315,"date":"2026-07-26T01:19:06","date_gmt":"2026-07-26T00:19:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2315"},"modified":"2026-07-26T01:19:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-26T00:19:07","slug":"abraka-residents-support-adeboyes-call-for-stronger-action-against-terrorism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2315","title":{"rendered":"Abraka Residents Support Adeboye&#8217;s Call for Stronger Action Against Terrorism"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Victory Omotor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents of Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State have supported the call by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, for the Federal Government to intensify efforts against terrorism in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pastor Adeboye made the call while speaking at the U.S.-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington. He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not be blamed for not personally fighting terrorists because, as Commander-in-Chief, his responsibility is to direct the military and other security agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cleric advised the President to give military commanders 90 days to end terrorism or resign from their positions. He also called on the government to arrest and prosecute anyone sponsoring terrorism, regardless of their social or financial status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some Abraka residents interviewed by this reporter expressed support for Pastor Adeboye&#8217;s position and urged the government to strengthen security efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shaka Avwerosuoghene Joseph, a student of Delta State University, Abraka, said the President cannot fight terrorists alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;The security agencies should do their job well. If they fail, the government should hold them accountable. Anyone sponsoring terrorism should also be arrested,&#8221;<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another respondent, Anighoro Tejiri Mathias, stressed the need to target those financing terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;If the sponsors of terrorism are arrested and punished, it will help reduce insecurity in the country. The government must take decisive action,&#8221;<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also speaking, Miss Agarivbie Oghenerunor Princess, a student of Delta State University, Abraka, said religious leaders have an important role in speaking on national issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;I believe Pastor Adeboye spoke because he wants peace in Nigeria.
