Hall, Site III, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, as the Communication and Media Studies Students&#8217; Association (COMMESSA) held its Day of Prayer, committing the forthcoming second-semester examinations, students, lecturers, and the university community into God&#8217;s hands through worship and intercessory prayers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme was organized as students prepared for the second-semester examinations amid recent police raids and reported student arrests in the Ekrejeta and NUT areas of Abraka, which have raised concerns about students&#8217; safety and the possible disruption of academic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drawing inspiration from Deuteronomy 31:6 \u2014 <em>&#8220;Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.&#8221;<\/em> \u2014 the organizers encouraged students to remain steadfast in faith while complementing prayer with diligent academic preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leading the prayer session was Jecinta Oderhohwo, the 2024 Communicator of the Year, who guided participants through worship, congregational singing, and intercessory prayers. She outlined prayer points for the forthcoming examinations, including prayers for Delta State University, the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies and its departments, students, lecturers, divine health, and the successful conduct of the examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She encouraged participants to remain steadfast in faith, trust God&#8217;s guidance despite prevailing security concerns, and combine prayer with hard work as they prepared for their examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the dignitaries present were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sen. Comr. Tilije Amaka Confidence, Assistant Senate Secretary of the 32nd Students&#8217; Senate Parliament and Senator representing the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comr. Sunday Collins Efe, SUG Director of Sports.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hon. Comr. Obianife Luke, SRC Representative for Mass Communication.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hon. Judge Emotimi Esther Oyinyechi, Judge representing the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comr. Hillary Valerie, Vice President of COMMESSA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hon. Comr. Agbamuche Bethel Osamudiame, President of COMMESSA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme recorded a turnout of about 45 students, with participants describing the gathering as timely and encouraging as examinations approached and many sought spiritual strength amid prevailing security concerns in Abraka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delivering the closing address, Hon. Comr. Agbamuche Bethel Osamudiame, President of COMMESSA, commended participants for attending the programme despite their academic commitments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He urged students not to allow prevailing challenges to distract them from their studies but to remain steadfast in prayer, disciplined in their preparation, and confident that God would guide them through the examination period.
