{"id":2461,"date":"2026-07-28T09:41:42","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T08:41:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2461"},"modified":"2026-07-28T09:41:43","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T08:41:43","slug":"campus-security-challenges-and-safety-measures-an-interview-with-comrade-goodluck-ubah-member-of-behind-bars-human-rights-foundation-bbi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2461","title":{"rendered":"Campus Security Challenges And Safety Measures: An Interview With Comrade Goodluck Ubah, Member Of Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation (BBI)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Anita Clifford<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Theft of phones, laptops, and bags, hostel burglaries, fraud, cult-related activities, and recent kidnapping cases remain some of the major security challenges facing students on and around the Delta State University (DELSU) campus, according to Comrade Goodluck Ubah, a member of the Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation (BBI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking during an interview, Ubah identified theft, hostel burglaries, students walking alone at night, fraud, cult-related activities, and kidnapping as the most common security threats affecting students. He explained that these incidents continue to pose significant risks to students&#8217; safety and well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, the university has implemented several security measures to reduce crime and protect lives and property. These include 24-hour security patrols, security checkpoints at campus gates, CCTV surveillance cameras, compulsory student identity card verification, and regular night patrols around hostels and lecture areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ubah emphasized that students also have an important role to play in maintaining a safe campus environment.
