Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, came alive with fashion, entertainment and celebration as students gathered for the Mr. and Miss DELSU Pageant and the Students’ Union Government (SUG) Dinner and Awards Night, showcasing creativity, culture and talent within the university community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekend’s activities began on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Abraka Civic Centre, where contestants competed for the prestigious Mr. and Miss DELSU titles. The pageant featured participants from different departments, who displayed confidence, elegance and creativity in various segments of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the highlights of the event was the fashion display, with contestants appearing in runway wear, active wear, creative wear and traditional attire. The traditional costume segment attracted significant attention as contestants showcased Urhobo, Igbo and Benin cultural outfits, celebrating Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage through fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contestants representing Edo culture particularly impressed the audience, earning loud cheers for their outstanding performances. The runway segment also captivated spectators, while the active wear category highlighted contestants’ fitness, confidence and discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the competition, a contestant from the Science Laboratory Technology (Physics) Department emerged as Miss DELSU, while a contestant from the Department of Education was crowned Mr. DELSU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration continued on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the DELSU Multipurpose Hall, where the SUG Dinner and Awards Night recognised students, organisations and individuals for their contributions to entertainment, fashion and content creation within the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event brought together students, models, fashion brands, modelling agencies and content creators for an evening of recognition and celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among those honoured was Princess, popularly known as “Godmother,” founder of DGQ Modelling Academy, who received recognition for her contribution to the development of modelling and talent within the university community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student content creator Gesi, a final-year student in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, also received two awards in recognition of her contributions to promoting the university through digital content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fashion brands and modelling agencies were equally recognised for supporting the growth of fashion and entertainment on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two events highlighted the growing role of fashion, entertainment and creativity in student life. While the pageant provided a platform for cultural expression, confidence and personal development, the awards ceremony celebrated excellence and encouraged more students to pursue their creative talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants described the events as successful and expressed optimism that similar programmes would continue to promote leadership, self-expression and talent development within the Delta State University community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
