O. Nelson Emebeyo, disclosed this during an interview, explaining that construction of the facility began in October 2024 and was completed after 14 months, with the building officially commissioned for use in December 2025.

According to him, the project was financed through donations from church members and other freewill contributors and received approval from the university authorities before construction commenced.

Ven. Emebeyo said the facility is designed for children from birth to 12 years of age, providing a dedicated space for worship, Bible lessons and other church activities.

He also revealed that the church organises free tutorial classes for students preparing for semester examinations, including General Studies (GST) and other university courses. The tutorials, he said, are open to all students regardless of denomination and are facilitated by volunteers and academically outstanding students.

Before the completion of the new facility, the children’s ministry operated from a room within the main church auditorium. However, the growing number of children made the available space inadequate.

“The room previously used for the children’s ministry had become too small to accommodate the increasing number of children. The new building provides a larger, safer and more comfortable environment where children can worship, learn and participate in church activities without disruption,” he said.

The newly completed centre, located beside the main church auditorium, features a modern design with a spacious entrance, tiled walkways and landscaped flower beds, reflecting the church’s commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment for children.

Ven. Emebeyo said the facility would strengthen children’s spiritual development by providing a dedicated space for worship, Bible study and age-appropriate learning activities, while also allowing parents to participate fully in services held in the main auditorium.

He added that the church remains committed to supporting both the spiritual and academic development of children and students through its worship programmes and free educational initiatives.

The chaplain expressed appreciation to church members and all donors whose contributions made the project possible, describing the Children’s Worship Centre as a significant milestone in the church’s efforts to improve children’s ministry and learning.

By Faith Biokoro Our Saviour Interdenominational Chapel, Delta State University (DELSU), Site II, has unveiled a new Children’s Worship Centre to provide a more conducive environment for children’s worship, Bible study and spiritual development.
