According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, the driver allegedly betrayed the family&#8217;s trust by abducting the child instead of completing the routine school run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;He was paid to always pick and drop the child to and from school, but he turned around and kidnapped the child and collected a ransom of \u20a6500,000,&#8221; SP Edafe said in a video briefing shared on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family promptly reported the child&#8217;s disappearance to the police, who launched an intelligence-led investigation. The operation led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of part of the ransom money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police confirmed that the child was rescued safely and unharmed during the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SP Edafe commended the officers involved in the rescue and urged parents and guardians to carry out thorough background checks before employing drivers, domestic staff or caregivers responsible for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
