However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the driver was unable to complete the trip and transferred the parcel to another driver travelling to Abraka that morning.

A witness, Nelson, a POS operator who said he observed the incident, told our correspondent that the recipient arrived at the motor park to collect the parcel.

According to Nelson, after locating the parcel, the driver in possession of it demanded a payment of ₦5,000 before releasing it. The recipient, however, objected, insisting that the first driver had informed him that the agreed delivery charge was ₦3,000.

The disagreement over the additional ₦2,000 soon escalated into a heated argument at the park.

The situation became more tense when the recipient reportedly took out his phone to photograph the driver’s vehicle registration number. The action provoked an angry reaction from the driver and some people nearby.

“Do you want to arrest me over your parcel?” the driver reportedly asked the recipient during the confrontation.

As the disagreement intensified, the Vice Chairman of the motor park was invited to intervene.

Addressing those involved, the Vice Chairman urged both parties to remain calm, noting that certain actions were inappropriate within the motor park environment. He also expressed concern that the incident could negatively affect the reputation of the transport company.

To resolve the matter, the Vice Chairman directed that the original delivery agreement be verified. In the presence of those gathered, the initial driver was contacted to confirm the agreed transportation fee.

According to the first driver, the agreed charge for delivering the parcel was ₦3,000. Following the clarification, it emerged that the additional ₦2,000 requested by the second driver had not formed part of the original agreement.

The incident was eventually resolved after the original payment arrangement was confirmed.

The dispute highlights the importance of clear communication, accountability, and transparency in parcel delivery services, particularly when responsibility for a delivery is transferred from one driver to another.

By Joshua Ogheneovo A disagreement between a commercial driver and a parcel recipient over waybill delivery charges disrupted activities at the Abraka Motor Park on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at about 2:30 p.m. The dispute reportedly began over the amount required for the release of a parcel that had been transported from Warri to Abraka.
