The Head of the Department of Cyber Security at Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Dr. John Atajeromavwo, has predicted that as data generation continues to increase globally, Machine Learning will remain a key driver of innovation, automation and intelligent decision-making across various sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an interview with Media <\/em>Conversation<\/mark>, <\/strong>Atajeromavwo observed that Machine Learning is one of the most important branches of Artificial Intelligence (AI), calling on researchers and students to embrace these emerging technologies and contribute to global technological advancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speaking on the relevance of Machine Learning in today’s digital world, Atajeromavwo explained that Machine Learning is a branch of Artificial Intelligence that focuses on developing algorithms capable of learning from data and making predictions or decisions without being specifically programmed for every task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The scholar observed that unlike traditional computer programming where rules are manually defined, Machine Learning systems can automatically identify patterns in data, learn from experience and improve their performance over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n READ ALSO: <\/em><\/strong>DELSU-SUG Moves To Tame Growing Social Vices On Campus<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n According to him, Machine Learning has become an essential component of modern computing and digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Head of Department explained that Machine Learning is already part of everyday life, even when many people are unaware of its presence, noting that activities such as online banking, online shopping, social media usage, and interactions with digital platforms often rely on Machine Learning algorithms to enhance security, improve efficiency, and personalize user experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Recommendation systems, fraud detection tools, spam filters, and facial recognition technologies are among the most common applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Atajeromavwo further clarified that although Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are closely related both technological inventions differ in some ways, explaining that while Artificial Intelligence serves as the broader field that includes technologies such as expert systems, computer vision, and rule-based systems, Machine Learning specifically focuses on systems that learn automatically from data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
