It would normally fall mildly and bring cool air. But now it rains heavily, sometimes from morning till night. My dried fish has already been soaked because water entered my shop. Other goods like rice, beans, and yam also got soaked and spoiled.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another trader, Mrs. Glory, who sells fresh tomatoes and pepper, said she lost goods worth nearly <strong>\u20a680,000<\/strong> after floodwater entered her shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;There was a day I stayed late to monitor the water so it wouldn&#8217;t touch my goods, only to come back the next day and see everything submerged,&#8221;<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She explained that she later obtained a bank loan to restock her shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;I was able to get a loan from the bank in order to restock the goods that got spoiled. I really want to recover the profit I lost, but I think I am just selling to repay the loan I borrowed,&#8221;<\/em> she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a result of the losses, the prices of many goods have increased as traders attempt to recover the money lost to the flood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most traders store their goods on the floor, in baskets, trays, and on low tables, making them more vulnerable to floodwater.
