{"id":2701,"date":"2026-07-30T08:42:46","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T07:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2701"},"modified":"2026-07-30T08:42:48","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T07:42:48","slug":"tracka-questions-%e2%82%a650m-allocation-for-erho-court-project-in-abraka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2701","title":{"rendered":"Tracka Questions \u20a650m Allocation For Erho Court Project In Abraka"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Divine Ibhaobe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A civic accountability organisation, Tracka, has raised questions over the alleged expenditure of \u20a650 million allocated for the construction and renovation of the Magistrate Court and High Court located in Erho, Abraka, Delta State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Tracka, the project was included in the 2024 Delta State Budget Implementation Report, where the sum of \u20a650 million was reportedly recorded as having been fully spent on the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, during a visit to the court premises, the organisation reportedly found no clear evidence of any recent construction or renovation work at the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The monitoring team observed that parts of the court premises were overgrown with bushes, while sections of the roof were reportedly damaged and exposed to the weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tracka also reported that officials of both the Magistrate Court and High Court said they were unaware of any government-funded construction or renovation project carried out at the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The presiding magistrate was also reported to have said that the benches currently being used in the courtroom were provided by members of the community and not by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The condition of the court has raised concerns among residents, who believe that the poor state of the facility could affect the dignity of court proceedings and public confidence in the justice system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following its findings, Tracka, through the BudgIT Foundation, reportedly sent a Freedom of Information (FOI) request dated June 8, 2026, to the Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Theresa Diai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The request sought information on the approved scope of the project, the contractor responsible for the work, the implementation timeline, the current status of the project, and clarification on the reported expenditure of the \u20a650 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tracka also requested that the information be provided within seven days, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents of Erho, Abraka, have continued to express concern over the condition of the court, describing it as an important institution where disputes are resolved and citizens seek justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of the time of filing this report, the Delta State Judiciary had not issued an official response to the Freedom of Information request.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Divine Ibhaobe A civic accountability organisation, Tracka, has raised questions over the alleged expenditure of \u20a650 million allocated for the construction and renovation of the Magistrate Court and High Court located in Erho, Abraka, Delta State.
