{"id":2717,"date":"2026-07-30T20:52:04","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T19:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2717"},"modified":"2026-07-30T20:52:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T19:52:07","slug":"police-raid-criminal-hideouts-in-abraka-arrest-22-suspects-impound-21-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2717","title":{"rendered":"Police Raid Criminal Hideouts In Abraka, Arrest 22 Suspects, Impound 21 Vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Matthew Augustine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Twenty-two suspected criminals were arrested, suspected illegal drugs were recovered, and 21 vehicles were impounded during a police operation targeting criminal hideouts in Abraka on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The operation, carried out by the Delta State Police Command, was aimed at reducing crime and improving security in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police officers raided locations believed to be hideouts for suspected drug dealers and other criminal elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operation was based on credible intelligence received by the command and formed part of ongoing efforts to tackle cultism, drug abuse, kidnapping, and other criminal activities across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the raid, officers arrested 22 suspects, comprising 19 men and three women, from different locations linked to alleged illegal activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the police, substances suspected to be illegal drugs were also recovered during the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The command said the operation was intended to curb the sale and use of hard drugs, which it said have been linked to rising crime in some communities across Delta State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the arrests, the police impounded 21 vehicles for various traffic offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the vehicles had no number plates, while others had covered number plates or expired vehicle documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The command said such vehicles are sometimes used by criminals to avoid identification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The command assured residents that intelligence-led operations would continue across the state to improve public safety and urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in the fight against crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The police said all suspects would be thoroughly investigated and that anyone found culpable would be charged to court in accordance with the law, while emphasizing that every suspect remains innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some residents of Abraka welcomed the operation, saying it would help reduce criminal activities and improve safety in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They also appealed to the police to ensure that innocent people are treated fairly during future operations and that investigations are conducted professionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and encouraged residents to remain law-abiding and report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest police station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Matthew Augustine Twenty-two suspected criminals were arrested, suspected illegal drugs were recovered, and 21 vehicles were impounded during a police operation targeting criminal hideouts in Abraka on Wednesday.
