Students of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, have expressed concern over persistent network failures across Sites I and II, saying poor internet connectivity is disrupting their academic activities and daily communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many students complained that mobile network services frequently become weak or unavailable in several parts of the campuses, making it difficult to browse the internet, submit online assignments, download study materials, and access other digital resources needed for their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students also criticised the university’s Wi-Fi service, describing it as unstable and unreliable. According to them, the connection often becomes weak, even at night when many students depend on it for research, studying, and completing academic tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 200-level Mass Communication student, Etabuko Praise, said she often spends a considerable amount of time searching for a location with a stronger network signal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sometimes I spend more than 30 minutes looking for a place where I can browse. It becomes frustrating, especially when I have an assignment to submit before the deadline. Even the DELSU Wi-Fi is not stable. Sometimes you connect, but nothing loads, even late at night,”<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another student, Joseph Gift<\/strong>, a 400-level Business Administration student, said the problem becomes more severe during the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The network slows down badly at night. Even sending a simple message on WhatsApp can take several minutes. We expect the university Wi-Fi to help, but it is also weak most of the time,”<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Offering a different perspective, Abotu Godbless<\/strong>, a 100-level Business Administration student, acknowledged that although the university’s Wi-Fi has its shortcomings, it has been beneficial to many students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The DELSU Wi-Fi is helpful for students, especially when doing assignments and research. It has reduced the amount many students spend on mobile data. However, the challenge is that it is not accessible across the entire campus; it is only available in some faculties. As for the general network service in Abraka, I would rate it 60 per cent out of 100,”<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some students added that poor network services have also affected online payments, course registration, access to e-books, and communication with lecturers, forcing many of them to leave their hostels or lecture areas in search of stronger network signals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They noted that the persistent connectivity challenges have become part of daily campus life, compelling many students to spend more money on mobile data or relocate to areas with better reception whenever they need reliable internet access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students appealed to telecommunication service providers to improve network coverage around the university and urged the DELSU management to upgrade and stabilise the campus Wi-Fi to support effective teaching, learning, research, and other academic activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
