One publication claimed that Melaye allegedly attempted to woo her with a fake luxury wristwatch, while another listed her among celebrities said to have dated the politician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maintaining that the reports were false, misleading, and injurious to her reputation, Adunni Ade approached the Lagos State High Court instead of responding through social media. She based her suit on her constitutional right to privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delivering judgment, Justice I. O. Harrison held that the continued publication of the actress&#8217;s name and image in connection with the false reports amounted to an invasion of her privacy and portrayed her in a false light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court ordered Google to remove the offending publications from its platforms and awarded the actress <strong>\u20a630 million in general damages<\/strong> for the harm caused to her reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Legal analysts described the judgment as a landmark decision, noting that it represents one of the first high-profile Nigerian cases in which a celebrity has successfully challenged a global technology platform under Nigeria&#8217;s data protection laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They said the ruling reinforces the principle that digital platforms can be held accountable when false and harmful personal information remains publicly accessible online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reacting to the judgment, Adunni Ade shared a message on Instagram, writing: <em>&#8220;Not every battle needs a response, some need a courtroom. Unto the next.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her post quickly attracted widespread attention on social media, with many Nigerians commending her decision to seek legal redress rather than engage in online exchanges.
