{"id":2883,"date":"2026-08-01T01:03:33","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T00:03:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2883"},"modified":"2026-08-01T01:03:36","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T00:03:36","slug":"delsu-students-urged-to-obtain-pvcs-ahead-of-2027-general-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=2883","title":{"rendered":"DELSU Students Urged To Obtain PVCs Ahead Of 2027 General Elections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Tracy Lucky<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, have been encouraged to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of Nigeria\u2019s 2027 general elections to enable them to participate actively in the electoral process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent months, voter awareness messages have been circulated across social media platforms, encouraging eligible Nigerians, particularly young people, to prepare for the resumption of voter registration and PVC collection whenever the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announces the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 300-level Political Science student, Collins Okpako, said many students are willing to vote but require more awareness about the registration process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMany students are interested in voting, but some don\u2019t know when registration starts or where to register. More sensitisation will help,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also speaking, the President of the DELSU Students\u2019 Union Government (SUG), Comrade Onovughegor, urged students to see voting as a civic responsibility rather than leaving politics to older generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, active participation in elections gives young people the opportunity to influence policies affecting education, employment, and national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some students also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to establish voter registration centres closer to the university whenever registration resumes, making the process more accessible for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Political observers believe that sustained voter education among university students could increase youth participation in future elections and strengthen Nigeria\u2019s democratic process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Tracy Lucky Students of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, have been encouraged to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of Nigeria\u2019s 2027 general elections to enable them to participate actively in the electoral process.
