{"id":3000,"date":"2026-08-02T17:52:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-02T16:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=3000"},"modified":"2026-08-02T17:52:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-02T16:52:15","slug":"delsu-students-acknowledge-the-students-union-government-for-the-just-concluded-2026-student-rally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=3000","title":{"rendered":"DELSU Students Acknowledge The Students&#8217; Union Government For The Just Concluded 2026 Student Rally"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Henrietta Effiong<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SUG week rally 2025\/2026 session was a great success thanks to the commitment of the SUG officials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event themed \u2018the synergy\u2019 was scheduled to kick off on the 4th of July and run for 9 days.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was filled with entertainment, networking, excitement and also unforgettable memories were created among students.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 400 level student in the department of Political science shared in an interview that the event was not always peaceful and enjoyable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A student Villa Wilson added that in 2024, a real quarrel in the Delsu SUG happened which was later resolved with the intervention of the then vice chancellor Professor Andy Egwunyenga.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allegedly, there was a serious disagreement between the then students union president and the leadership of the department of Accounting over the scheduling of the departmental welcome party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He shared further that the SUG president insisted that no other major Student event should be scheduled to hold during the official Students week and ordered for it to be cancelled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation which made students panic and also leaving one person injured.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Vice chancellor heard about this and immediately condemned the violence and started an investigation of the issue to determine the cause of the disagreement and identity those responsible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The university also directed that anyone found guilty would face disciplinary actions in line with the institutions\u2019 regulations.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students praise the SUG president and officials of the 2025\/2026 session for being mature by organizing a panic free, peaceful and safe rally for the students of Delta state university.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By acknowledging their efforts, students testified they had a great time and enjoyed the 9 days event completely with food, music, party vibes, sport activities, cultural fiesta ,praise festival and so much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Henrietta Effiong The SUG week rally 2025\/2026 session was a great success thanks to the commitment of the SUG officials.
