{"id":3124,"date":"2026-08-07T01:51:33","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T00:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=3124"},"modified":"2026-08-07T01:51:35","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T00:51:35","slug":"delsu-hosts-120th-inaugural-lecture-at-site-iii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=3124","title":{"rendered":"DELSU Hosts 120th Inaugural Lecture At Site III"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Oghenetega Akpomiemie<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, on Thursday hosted its 120th Inaugural Lecture at the 750 Lecture Theatre A, Site III, where scholars, students, members of staff and invited guests gathered to discuss strategies for improving agricultural development and food security in Nigeria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lecture was delivered by Professor Bishop Ochuko Ovwigho, Professor of Agricultural Programme Monitoring and Evaluation, under the theme \u201cAchieving Food Security: Hierarchy of Objectives Monitoring and Evaluation Model for Agricultural Development Programme.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event began at 11:00 a.m., with guests taking their seats before the scheduled commencement.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel O. Asagba, who chaired the occasion, described inaugural lectures as an important academic tradition that enables professors to share the outcomes of years of research with the university community and the wider public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professor Ovwigho emphasised the need for effective monitoring and evaluation of agricultural programmes, noting that proper planning and implementation are essential to achieving sustainable food production and national food security.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students from different faculties, particularly those at Site III, attended the lecture and participated attentively throughout the presentation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many described the lecture as enlightening and relevant to Nigeria\u2019s current agricultural and economic challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event ended with a vote of thanks and appreciation to the inaugural lecturer, while the university reaffirmed its commitment to promoting research, innovation and academic excellence through its inaugural lecture series.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Oghenetega Akpomiemie Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, on Thursday hosted its 120th Inaugural Lecture at the 750 Lecture Theatre A, Site III, where scholars, students, members of staff and invited guests gathered to discuss strategies for improving agricultural development and food security in Nigeria.
