Rex said.

He explained that he visited the ICT Directorate three times before the issue was resolved.

“There were long queues and a crowd of students with different portal issues each time I went there.

“It was stressful returning three different times before my department was finally corrected,” he said.

Another affected student, Oyewole Damilola Suliya, said her course was changed from Journalism and Media Studies to Theatre Arts, her academic level from 100 level to 200 level, and her admission session from 2025/2026 to 2024/2025.

“I had issues logging into the portal immediately after the upgrade,” she said.

“My course, level and admission session were all changed, but after I reported the problem, the ICT Directorate corrected everything.

“Since the adjustment was made, I have not experienced any further issues, and the portal no longer lags.”

Thompson Michael, a 100-level student of Film and Multimedia Studies, said the portal initially prevented him from printing his school fees breakdown.

“The portal refused to open whenever I tried to print my school fees breakdown.

“It affected my registration process until the issue was resolved,” he said.

Emmanuel Kojo said his academic records were not affected by the upgrade but noted that accessing the portal had previously been difficult.

“Before the adjustment, logging into the portal was stressful.

“Sometimes it showed ‘incorrect password,’ and other times it kept refreshing.

“I even thought I had forgotten my password before my coordinator informed us that adjustments were being made,” he said.

“Now I can log in easily without stress, register my courses, print my school fees receipt and other required documents for submission.

“I have completed everything I needed to do.”

The students’ experiences reflect both the temporary challenges encountered during the early stages of the portal upgrade and the university’s efforts to resolve them promptly.

Most students interviewed said the issues had been addressed, allowing them to continue their registration and other academic activities without further difficulty.

The successful adjustment to the upgraded portal highlights the Vice-Chancellor’s administration’s commitment to strengthening DELSU’s digital infrastructure, improving service delivery and modernising academic administration.

While the transition presented temporary disruptions for some students, the improvements have enhanced access to online services and eased essential academic processes across the university.

By Samuel Nwani Students of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, have adjusted to the university’s upgraded student portal introduced under the administration of the Vice-Chancellor, with many commending the improvements after initial technical challenges were resolved.
