{"id":3288,"date":"2026-08-11T10:38:41","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T09:38:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=3288"},"modified":"2026-08-11T10:39:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T09:39:15","slug":"girl-allegedly-hit-with-helmet-by-okada-rider","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=3288","title":{"rendered":"Girl Allegedly Hit With Helmet By Okada Rider"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Praise<\/strong> <strong>Okoh<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A female student has alleged that she was assaulted by a commercial motorcycle rider following a disagreement over transportation fare at the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Campus 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the girl, she initially negotiated a fare of \u20a6800 with the motorcycle rider to take her from Police State Road, Abraka, to Campus 2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the rider reportedly changed the fare to \u20a61,000, which she agreed to because she was allegedly his first passenger of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the girl alighted at Council Hall, Campus 2, the rider reportedly demanded an additional \u20a6200, bringing the total fare to \u20a61,200. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The girl reportedly expressed her displeasure over the sudden increase, describing the amount as excessive for the relatively short journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the girl, the disagreement over the fare escalated, and the motorcycle rider allegedly became angry and struck her with his helmet below the eye, an area close to the eye that could have resulted in serious injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fortunately, the incident reportedly occurred in front of a hostel, where some passersby noticed what was happening and intervened before the situation could escalate further. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The individuals reportedly separated the girl from the rider and took possession of the motorcycle while the hostel was secured to prevent the allegedly angry rider from forcing his way inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the situation created tension both inside and outside the hostel, the Campus Security Officers (CSO) were informed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some security personnel were subsequently sent to intervene and help resolve the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CSO reportedly asked both the girl and the motorcycle rider to accompany them to their headquarters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the hostel porters allegedly refused to allow the girl to leave with the group, stating that they preferred to wait for the Hall Warden to accompany her rather than allow her to go with four men, including the motorcycle rider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the time of this report, the girl remains at the hostel, while the motorcycle is reportedly being held there pending the intervention of the Hall Warden and further resolution of the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Praise Okoh A female student has alleged that she was assaulted by a commercial motorcycle rider following a disagreement over transportation fare at the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Campus 2.
