{"id":388,"date":"2026-07-05T18:09:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T17:09:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=388"},"modified":"2026-07-05T19:36:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T18:36:16","slug":"mass-comm-defeats-anatomy-to-secure-slot-in-female-vc-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=388","title":{"rendered":"Mass Comm Defeat Anatomy To Secure Slot In Female VC Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Kelvin Idi<\/strong><br>The Department of Mass Communication secured qualification for the next stage of the female Vice-Chancellor\u2019s Cup after defeating the Department of Anatomy in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw at full time on Tuesday, July 1, at Bembo Field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both teams produced an entertaining contest, with several goal-scoring opportunities but strong defensive displays ensured the match ended 0-0 after regulation time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With no winner after full time, the game was decided through penalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mass Communication kept their composure from the spot to defeat Anatomy and book a place in the next round of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>READ ALSO: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=371\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"371\">DELSU Entrepreneurship Centre Holds Exhibition, Showcases Students\u2019 Talents<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mass Communication goalkeeper Success delivered an impressive performance, making crucial saves during the game and contributing significantly to the team\u2019s qualification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other players who featured for the team were Confidence, Esther, Rosemary, Joy, Cherish, Precision, Nenny, Bends, Miracle, Favour, Divine and Mariam, whose determination and teamwork earned the department a hard-fought victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the defeat, Anatomy gave a good account of themselves, matching their opponents throughout the game and making the contest highly competitive until the penalty shootout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final whistle was followed by celebrations from Mass Communication players and supporters as the team advanced to the next stage of the VC Cup, keeping their hopes of winning the tournament&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?page_id=51\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"51\">music lovers and fashion enthusiasts turned out in large numbers for the second anniversary of the Afropiano Party, where vibrant fashion, energetic performances and nonstop music created an unforgettable experience despite a heavy downpour.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event, organized by hypeman Zar, was held on Saturday, June 13, at Goldstep, Abraka, beginning at about 10:00 p.m. and lasting until dawn.
