The Association of Nigeria University Professional Administrators, ANUPA, held its 2026 Annual Lecture and ANUPA Day on Thursday, June 4th, at the Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, with a call for innovation and efficiency in tertiary institution administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s event, themed “<\/em>Re-Engineering Administrative Excellence in Tertiary Institutions: AI, The New Normal”, brought together lecturers, teachers, and administrative staff committed to advancing student education and university management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of DELSU, Professor Samuel Asagba, who sponsored the programme, underscored the need for innovation, professionalism, and teamwork to achieve the university\u2019s vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He reaffirmed the institution\u2019s commitment to investing in modern facilities, staff development, and student welfare to sustain DELSU\u2019s reputation as one of Nigeria\u2019s leading state universities, currently ranked 11th in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vice-Chancellor was commended for his magnanimous financial support and consistent backing for ANUPA. Participants also welcomed the university\u2019s Patron, Mrs. Rufina Ufiofio, the first female Registrar of Delta State University, described as a dedicated supporter and guide to the association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his address, the Public Relations Officer of ANUPA, Mr. Henry Eseka, said the annual gathering was more than a social event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that it reflects the association\u2019s collective journey, achievements, challenges, and commitment to excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Eseka highlighted the importance of student welfare, describing it as services, programs, and support provided by universities to promote students\u2019 academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He listed key welfare services to include academic guidance and counseling, health and medical services, scholarships and financial aid, accommodation and hostel services, security, sports and recreational services, and career guidance and placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further disclosed that DELSU runs a university work-study program for students unable to pay their fees. Under the scheme, students engage in campus cleaning and earn between \u20a620,000 and \u20a630,000 monthly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, Mr. Eseka outlined the university\u2019s plans for academic growth, infrastructural development, and improved student welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the proposed developments would positively impact teaching and learning and align with DELSU\u2019s vision of becoming a leading institution known for academic excellence and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PRO also used the occasion to advise students against cultism, late-night movements, and bad company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged them to use social media responsibly, avoid spreading false information, and verify facts before sharing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, students are ambassadors of the institution and should project a positive image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further encouraged participation in academic and extracurricular activities that contribute to personal and professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants at the conference commended the Vice-Chancellor\u2019s vision and pledged support for initiatives aimed at advancing the university\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event concluded with a call for stronger collaboration among university administrators to promote excellence in higher education across Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
