E., said the facility records a rise in the number of students, seeking medical attention during examination periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, many students visit the clinic with complaints of persistent headaches, fatigue and stomach related illnesses, often caused by inadequate sleep, poor nutrition and excessive consumption of energy drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Students think they are simply pushing themselves to succeed academically, but they are placing their bodies under intense stress, which can eventually reduce their ability to study effectively,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>READ ALSO:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=769\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"769\">Malaria Remains Major Health Concern In Abraka, Say Health Practitioners<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mrs. Diakparomre Ejiro, a healthcare provider at the General Hospital, Abraka, also said good health is essential for academic performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She explained that many students focus solely on studying while neglecting healthy habits such as eating balanced meals and staying hydrated, according to her, proper nutrition and adequate water intake improve concentration and memory retention, while dependence on stimulants and prolonged sleep deprivation can negatively affect learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 100 level Engineering student, Ayomide, said many students sacrifice their health in order to achieve good grades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Most of us focus mainly on passing our examinations and forget that our health is equally important, we skip meals and stay awake all night reading, but it often leaves us tired and unable to concentrate the next day,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>READ ALSO:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=767\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"767\">OPINION: Urbanisation Of Security Injustice in Nigeria: When Safety Becomes a Privilege<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that maintaining good health enables students to retain information better, and perform more confidently during examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The health experts advised students to balance their academic activities with adequate rest, proper nutrition and healthy study habits to reduce the risk of illness during the examination period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With examinations underway, they stressed that academic success should not come at the expense of students health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Agbamu Michael Pius As the second semester examination period intensifies at Delta State University (DELSU), health professionals have raised concerns over the increasing number of students developing health related issues, linked to poor study habits and examination stress.
