Staff members of Delta State University (DELSU), Campus II, have called for improved welfare and better working conditions, citing low salaries, inadequate office facilities and infrastructure challenges as major issues affecting productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concerns emerged from a recent survey conducted among staff members on the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Respondents described Campus II as a peaceful and conducive environment for work, noting that its calm atmosphere enhances concentration and productivity, they also said the campus has better infrastructure than Campus I and accommodates more offices and academic departments, making administrative and academic activities more organised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite these advantages, staff identified low salaries as one of their major concerns, saying current remuneration does not adequately reflect the rising cost of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the respondents, improved welfare packages would boost staff morale, increase job satisfaction and enhance service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey also revealed concerns over inadequate office accommodation and limited access to essential work equipment. Staff members called for additional office buildings, more office spaces, modern computers, printers and other facilities to improve efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They further identified unreliable power supply, poor internet connectivity, inadequate water supply and security challenges as factors affecting daily operations on the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Respondents noted that frequent power outages and unstable internet services disrupt administrative duties and academic activities, while improved security measures are needed to safeguard staff, students and university property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On teaching and learning, staff members observed that existing classrooms and learning facilities are no longer sufficient for the growing student population, leading to increased pressure on available infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some respondents also called for improvements to the campus bookshop, stressing the need for easier access to academic materials and learning resources to support teaching, research and learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental sanitation was another area highlighted in the survey, while respondents described the campus as generally conducive, they noted that some areas require more regular cleaning and better waste management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They recommended improved sanitation practices and regular maintenance, to promote a healthier learning and working environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
