Students of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, have commended the ongoing renovation of major lecture halls under the administration of the Vice Chancellor, describing the initiative as a major boost to teaching and learning while calling for further improvements in academic infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The university recently completed the renovation of the 1,000-Seater Lecture Hall and one of the 750 seater Lecture Halls, replacing old and damaged seats with new ones to provide a more conducive learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking with The Campus Reporter, Thompson Michael a student of the Department of Film and Multimedia Studies, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, described the renovation as a welcome development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The renovation of the 1,000 seater is impressive, it is much better than before, and I am happy with the improvement,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael, however, noted that relocating lectures during the renovation period created some inconvenience for students, and appealed to the university management to construct a dedicated lecture hall for the Department of Film and Multimedia Studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, Tunde Destiny, a 300 level Computer Science student, said the renovation had significantly improved students learning experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Before now, many of the chairs were damaged and there were not enough seats, so some students had to stand or sit on the floor during lectures, the new chairs have made learning more comfortable,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He, however, called on the university management to improve ventilation in the lecture hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Because of the large number of students using the hall, it becomes extremely hot during lectures, better ventilation would make the environment more comfortable, especially for students with health conditions such as asthma,” he added.Also speaking, Kuper Favor, a 100 level Biochemistry student, described the new seats<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Before, there were not enough chairs for students, but now everyone has a place to sit during lectures,” she said.While applauding the completed projects, some students appealed for the renovation of other lecture halls across the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ikriya Precious, a 400 level student of English and Literary Studies, urged the management to renovate the second 750 seater Lecture Hall, saying the facility requires urgent attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the lecture hall renovations, maintenance activities were observed in various parts of the campus, with workers clearing overgrown vegetation, cutting grass and maintaining the university environment to enhance cleanliness and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ongoing infrastructure upgrades, reflect the university’s commitment to improving teaching and learning facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students, however, appealed to the management to sustain the development by renovating additional lecture halls, improving ventilation and expanding academic infrastructure, to meet the needs of the growing student population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
