The Students Union Government (SUG) of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has highlighted thE
achievements of its current administration, reaffirming its commitment to students welfare, campus
security and a conducive learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Speaking in an interview, Rt. Hon. Barrister Dibori Jesse Ogenemega, a representative of the DELSU SUG,
said the union has completed several projects, including office facilities at the Faculty of Science
Extension and the Faculty of Science Secretariat.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also disclosed that the union had partnered with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies,
to strengthen security within the university and surrounding communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


According to Ogenemega, the collaboration has contributed to improving the safety of students, staff
and other members of the university community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On students, welfare, Ogenemega said the SUG receives complaints through the university portal and
other communication channels, before engaging the appropriate authorities to seek lasting solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He noted that the union also assisted students during the registration and processing of the Nigerian
Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme by providing guidance and support throughout the application
process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


According to him, regular meetings with the Dean of Students Affairs and the Deputy Vice Chancellor
have enabled the union, to communicate students concerns promptly and obtain timely responses from the university management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on future plans, Ogenemega said the SUG is preparing additional programmes and projects
aimed at improving students academic and social experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He assured students that details of the planned initiatives would be made public at the appropriate time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The student leader encouraged undergraduates to maintain a balance between academic and social
activities, stressing that university education goes beyond classroom learning, it includes leadership
development, networking and personal growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He also urged students interested in student leadership to participate actively in departmental
associations, orientation programmes and other campus activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the examination period approaches, Ogenemega advised students to prepare adequately for their
examinations, remain focused on their studies and avoid all forms of examination malpractice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He reiterated the union’s commitment to working closely with the university management, to protect
students interests and promote a peaceful, secure and conducive learning environment across the
university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
