Asagba&#8217;s administration as Vice Chancellor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Presenting his administration&#8217;s stewardship report, Prof. Asagba said the university has remained committed to implementing practical solutions aimed at improving teaching, learning, research, and administrative efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He disclosed that several strategic appointments were made across academic and administrative units to strengthen leadership, promote competence, ensure fairness, and encourage greater youth participation in university governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On financial management, the Vice Chancellor said the university established monitoring committees to curb revenue leakages and improve accountability, he added that DELSU also adopted a direct labour approach for many construction, maintenance, and renovation projects, reducing outsourcing costs and improving project delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>READ ALSO:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=876\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"876\">DELSU SUG Kicks Off 2026 SUG Week with Unity Rall<\/a>y<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Asagba further revealed that the university established new centres to promote research, innovation, and collaboration, these include the Centre for Farm Management, the Centre for National Linkages and Partnerships, and the Centre for Product Development and Research Commercialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, the centres are expected to strengthen research activities, encourage partnerships with external organisations, and facilitate the commercialisation of research findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Vice Chancellor also announced the constitution of committees to improve medical screening services and expand community health outreach programmes, describing the initiatives as part of the university&#8217;s commitment to public health and community service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Highlighting achievements in ICT, Prof. Asagba described the transformation of the university&#8217;s digital infrastructure, as one of the administration&#8217;s major accomplishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>READ ALSO:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=839\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"839\">Physician Harps On Proper Hygiene As Varsity Health Centre Records Increased Malaria Incidence Among Students<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said DELSU invested in technology to improve efficiency and service delivery, by developing a new result processing system, upgrading the university&#8217;s examination centre, and computerising staff records to enhance data management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other digital initiatives include the introduction of an integrated university portal, online screening for prospective students, and digital platforms for certificate processing and payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the university also upgraded its Computer Based Test (CBT) facilities, by installing more than 1,000 new computer systems across examination centres in Abraka, to strengthen its capacity for digital examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, the ICT upgrades have improved the speed, accuracy, and reliability of academic processes, while creating a more technology driven learning environment for students and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>READ ALSO:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=682\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"682\">DELSU Health Centre Director Denies Claims Of Poor Medical Services<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Asagba commended the university&#8217;s ICT team for its dedication and innovation, describing the members as energetic professionals, who have played a key role in DELSU&#8217;s digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reaffirmed his administration&#8217;s commitment to advancing academic excellence, infrastructure, research, staff welfare, and innovation as part of efforts to position Delta State University as a globally competitive institution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ukiri Divine Emraghogho Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has recorded significant progress in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), institutional development, research, financial management, and administrative reforms within the first year of Professor Samuel I.
