{"id":908,"date":"2026-07-12T19:01:04","date_gmt":"2026-07-12T18:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=908"},"modified":"2026-07-12T19:01:27","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T18:01:27","slug":"delsu-sub-lists-nelfund-implementation-as-key-achievement-for-2025-2026-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediaconversation.com\/?p=908","title":{"rendered":"DELSU-SUG Lists NELFUND Implementation As Key Achievement For 2025\/2026 Session"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Odomero John<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Students\u2019 Union Government, SUG, of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, has identified the utilisation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to secure examination pass for all students as its biggest achievement so far in the 2025\/2026 academic session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SUG Secretary General, Hon. Comr. Olise Victory of the Accounting Department, 400 Level, disclosed this during an interview with campus journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the SUG, the intervention became necessary to address the financial burden on students and ensure that no student was denied access to education due to inability to pay school fees this session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Highlighting key interventions, Comr. Olise said the union secured approval from the Vice Chancellor for students with verified, pending, and disbursed NELFUND payments to write exams. The SUG also assisted students with course registration in the first semester to prevent delays caused by portal challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe biggest win we have recorded so far was NELFUND,\u201d Comr. Olise said. \u201cThe federal government loan scheme has given many students relief in paying their school fees.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On projects, the Secretary General stated that no project has been executed yet this session, but added that the union is planning to embark on one before the session ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SUG also announced that <em>SUG Week<\/em> is currently ongoing. Activities lined up for students include Old School Day, Pageantry, Dinner, and Award Night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To improve communication and feedback, Comr. Olise said the SUG Secretariat and departmental units are open to receive complaints. He also disclosed the launch of <em>&#8220;<\/em>Student Palaver&#8221;, an anonymous online link created by the Office of the Director General for students to report challenges confidentially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur office is open.
