Findings by this reporter revealed that students from various faculties are actively
producing lifestyle, fashion, educational, comedy and faith-based content on social media
platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Content creation is becoming an increasingly popular venture among students of Delta
State University (DELSU), Abraka, with many undergraduates using digital platforms to
showcase their talents, promote businesses and earn additional income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Irani, a 200-level Psychology student, said he ventured into content creation because he
enjoys documenting and sharing aspects of his daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


“I believe my life is interesting, and I enjoy sharing some of the things I do with other
people,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glory, a 300-level Mass Communication student, said content creation has significantly
boosted her snacks business by attracting more customers through social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


“Content creation has been beneficial to me. It has helped me promote my business and
reach more customers online,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Similarly, Emmanuel, a 300-level Banking and Finance student who combines hairstyling
with content creation, said effective time management has enabled him to balance his
business and academic responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Blessing, a 100-level Pharmacology student, said she uses her social media platforms
primarily to promote Christian values and positive lifestyles rather than for financial gain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although students acknowledged that content creation has helped them build confidence,
develop communication skills and generate income, many also identified challenges
affecting the growing industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Some cited inadequate finance to purchase equipment such as cameras, microphones and
tripods, while others complained about poor internet connectivity and unstable mobile
networks that delay uploads and reduce audience engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Students also expressed concern that some content creators miss lectures or academic
activities while producing online content, a development they said could negatively affect
academic performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Despite these challenges, many students believe content creation will continue to grow as
an important entrepreneurial opportunity for undergraduates seeking to develop digital
skills while pursuing their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
