A lecturer in the Department of Public Relations and Advertising at Delta State University
(DELSU), Abraka, Mr. Perekeme Tebekaemi, has advised students to embrace technology
and continuously develop digital skills to remain competitive in an increasingly
technology-driven world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Speaking during an interview, Tebekaemi described technology as an indispensable tool
for success across professions, particularly in journalism, education, research and
communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He observed that digital technologies have transformed the way information is gathered,
processed and disseminated, making it imperative for students to acquire relevant
technological competencies before graduating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The lecturer identified Artificial Intelligence (AI) as one of the most significant innovations
shaping the media industry, noting that the technology is increasingly being used for news
writing, content creation, data analysis and fact-checking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, AI and other digital tools are redefining journalism and will continue to
influence the future of media practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Tebekaemi, however, acknowledged that students in Abraka still face challenges including
poor internet connectivity, limited access to digital devices and inadequate practical
exposure to emerging media technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He encouraged students not to allow these limitations to discourage them but to remain
committed to continuous learning, regular practice and personal development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The lecturer also commended Delta State University’s growing investment in digital
services, noting that improvements to the institution’s online portal have enhanced
academic and administrative processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said students can now register courses, pay school fees, access examination results and
obtain important academic information more conveniently through the university’s digital
platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Expressing optimism about the future of technology in education, Tebekaemi said digital
innovation would continue to improve teaching, learning and research across Nigerian
universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He urged students to remain focused on acquiring practical digital skills that will enhance
their employability and prepare them for future careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, the lecturer predicted that journalism and media practice would experience
even greater transformation over the next decade through increased adoption of artificial
intelligence, multimedia storytelling and other emerging communication technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
