The Faculty of Science at Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has organised a
workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to equip students with digital skills and expose
them to emerging technologies shaping the global workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The workshop brought together lecturers, researchers, technology experts and students
from various departments within the faculty to discuss the growing influence of artificial
intelligence across different sectors of the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Participants were introduced to the applications of AI in communication, agriculture,
healthcare, education, cybersecurity and business, with resource persons highlighting the
importance of digital innovation in solving real-world problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The facilitators explained that artificial intelligence is transforming the way people learn,
work and communicate, making digital competence an essential skill for students preparing
for careers in the modern workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the training, participants received practical demonstrations on the use of AI-
powered tools, virtual assistants and automated systems, showing how emerging
technologies can improve productivity and create new opportunities for entrepreneurship
and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Students who attended the programme described the workshop as enlightening and
expressed appreciation for the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge about artificial
intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


One participant, Nwise Victory, said the programme inspired him to explore career
opportunities in technology and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Another participant, Oyewenu Clever, called for more practical training sessions that
would enable students to gain hands-on experience with emerging technologies before
graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facilitators encouraged students to embrace continuous learning, develop problem-
solving skills and make effective use of online learning platforms to improve their digital
competence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


They stressed that Nigeria’s economic growth depends largely on a new generation of
technologically skilled young people capable of driving innovation and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The workshop concluded with an interactive session during which students asked questions
about the relevance of artificial intelligence, career opportunities in technology and
strategies for succeeding in the digital economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Organisers expressed optimism that similar programmes would strengthen the Faculty of
Science’s commitment to producing graduates equipped to compete in an increasingly
technology-driven world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
